With Valentine’s Day fast approaching we are taking a look at one of the most romantic cities in Europe, Vienna. At this time of year the Austrian capital’s ball season is in full swing. Known as the city of music thanks to its esteemed musical history our first recommendation is to take you and your valentine to see a concert. We recommend Vienna Kursalon music hall which brings the works of Mozart and Strauss to life. The music hall also features striking architecture in the style of the Italian Renaissance.
What else could be more fitting for Valentines than taking a horse drawn carriage ride passing iconic sights like the Hofburg Imperial Palace and the Burgtheater. The clip clop of the horse on the cobbled streets whilst you are gazing at the beautiful architecture is perfect for Valentine’s Day. We recommend doing this at night snuggled under a warm blanket whist marvelling at the illuminated historic streets.
Another romantic themed feature of the city is that its home to Gustav Klimt’s iconic “The Kiss” which can be seen in Prince Eugen’s gallery in Belvedere Palace. The two lovers locked in a tender embrace couldn’t be more fitting for a romantic valentine’s getaway.
Perhaps our favourite feature of the city is the Sacher Boutique Spa, “Time to Chocolate”. This is a unique experience where you and your valentine will indulge in specially designed spa treatments with a delicious twist, the main ingredient is chocolate. Could it get any better!?
To end the day, why not book your very own cabin car on the Riesenrad Ferris Wheel made famous by Orson Welles in “The Third Man”. The Romantic Crystal Dinner is a three course menu complete with your own cabin overlooking the breath taking views of the city and will bring to a close your perfect valentines weekend getaway.
